It was my first time to make advertising, so I asked myself continuously “what is a good advertising? How can I create impressive and effective ad for our product?”
My answer was that message should be clear and simple as well as the information must be interesting to hold a customer’s attention. Based on this thought, my lovely group mate Joanna and I started to brainstorming to generate clever ideas. Besides that, I asked my friends Mango who study film about how can I came up with brilliant ideas. He suggested me to watch some You Tube videos. He lets me know several funny advertisements all over the world, and it was actually helpful to get inspirations.
Finally, Joanna and I decided to follow a storytelling which had made in the past for preparing Dragon’s den. We concluded that it is the best way to publicize TOUCH gloves since we are not professional film makers. Below picture is my storyboard for our ad!
I was a main character Yoon, who always miss the bus in the morning because she forgets to bring Oyster card frequently. So she used to late her class and meeting with friends, however, the problem is solved after she purchases the TOUCH gloves. The reason is that it has an amazing function that people can keep their cards inside of pocket on the gloves!
Fortunately, my film making friends decided to help my group as an ad director, so I sent my storyboard to them and we worked together. Joanna and I prepared all stuffs that we need such as clothes, bags, gloves etc. The shooting went really smoothly. Bus driver allowed us to shoot inside of bus for a moment during their breaking time at Fairfield bus station. Even weather was cold and it was good for us because our product is winter item.
After recording on film, we needed to edit images. It was quite difficult task for me, but Joanna can deal with editing programme to some degree. In addition, my friend Mango assisted us to create an advertisement.
Meanwhile, there was a peer review in the class and we got some feedback from lecturer and classmates. I realised that our advertising should be improved for viewer’s easy understanding. Therefore, we had to shoot several scenes again to make our message clear. After that, we reduced show time by cutting unnecessary scenes to meet time limit, 1 minute. Furthermore, Joanna added more information such as Facebook address at the end of scene to provide purchasing details.
It is our final outcome! It was my first advertising film so please excuse me if my acting was lacking 🙂
